FreeCAD overview
FreeCAD is a Graphics tool. You can launch it on Windows, Mac, and Linux. FreeCAD for Windows, Mac, and Linux can be found on official sources.
FreeCAD is mainly used for working with .DAE files. Other FreeCAD supported filename extensions besides .DAE are .DXF, .IFC, .IGES, .IGS, .OBJ, .PRT, .SCAD, .SLDPRT, .STEP, .STL, .STP, .SVG, .VRML, .FCSTD.
You can open .DAE and other files with FreeCAD in two ways:
- You can double-click on .DAE file (or any other file of supported format) with left click mouse button. If you have installed FreeCAD on your Windows or Mac, the file will open successfully.
- You can open .DAE file from the FreeCAD menu. To open the menu, launch FreeCAD, find the menu button and follow the instructions.
