FreeCAD overview

FreeCAD is a Graphics tool. You can open it on Windows, Mac, and Linux. FreeCAD for Windows, Mac, and Linux can be found on respective sources.

FreeCAD operates with .DAE files. Other FreeCAD supported filename extensions besides .DAE are .DXF, .IFC, .IGES, .IGS, .OBJ, .PRT, .SCAD, .SLDPRT, .STEP, .STL, .STP, .SVG, .VRML, .FCSTD.

There are two ways of opening .DAE files with FreeCAD:

1. You can double-click on .DAE file (or any other file of supported format) with left click mouse button. If you have installed FreeCAD on your Windows or Mac, the file will open successfully.
2. You can open .DAE file from the FreeCAD menu. The menu button can be found on FreeCAD dashboard.
