GDAL overview

GDAL is a Scientific program. You can launch it on Windows, Mac, and Linux. GDAL for Windows, Mac, and Linux can be found on official sources.

GDAL supported file formats include .BIL and other formats of similar type. Other GDAL supported filename extensions besides .BIL are .ERS, .GEOJSON, .GRB, .HDR, .IMG, .MID, .MIF, .NITF, .PIX, .RDC, .REF, .RST, .SDW, .SMP, .TAB, .TIF, .WLD, .GDBTABLE, .HDF.

There are two ways of opening .BIL files with GDAL:

1. You can double-click on .BIL file (or any other supported file) with left click mouse button. If you have installed GDAL on your Windows or Mac, the file will open successfully.
2. You can open .BIL file from the GDAL menu. To open the menu, launch GDAL, find the menu button and follow the instructions.
