GIMP overview
GIMP is a Graphics program. You can launch it on Windows, Mac, and Linux. GIMP for Windows, Mac, and Linux can be found on respective stores.
GIMP operates with .AI files. Other GIMP supported filename extensions besides .AI are .CR2, .DCM, .DDS, .DGT, .DIB, .DICOM, .FITS, .G3, .GIF, .ICO, .JBMP, .JFI, .JPG, .ORA, .PCX, .PEF, .PGM, .PIX, .PNG, .PNM, .PPM, .PSD, .PTX, .RAS, .RAW, .RGB, .SCM, .SUN, .SVG, .TGA, .TIF, .TUB, .XBM, .XPM, .XWD, .APM, .GBR, .GGR, .GIH, .ICON, .JPEG, .PAT, .RS, .SR, .VBR, .WMF.
You can open .AI and other files with GIMP in two ways:
- By double-clicking on .AI file (or any other file of supported format) with left click mouse button. If GIMP is properly installed on your computer, the file will open successfully.
- You can open .AI file through the GIMP menu. The menu button can be found on GIMP dashboard.
